HOW IT WORKS
AviClear is an FDA-Cleared procedure and energy device developed by Cutera, a leader in innovative, medical esthetic technology. This first-of-its-kind acne laser treatment uses a 1726 nanometer wavelength to target the sebaceous gland, the place where sebum—an oily substance that causes acne—is produced.
The concentrated laser energy treats acne at its source by decreasing the function of the sebaceous gland, ensuring a smaller amount of sebum is produced over time to minimize the possibility of clogged pores and inflammation. AviClear provides a long-term, non-invasive solution to treat facial acne vulgaris for all skin tones.
Each AviClear treatment session takes 15 – 30 minutes and features smart sensor technology (AviCool) that helps keep the skin’s temperature cool and comfortable. Most patients can resume their daily activities right away without any major side effects. It is recommended to receive a minimum of 3 sessions, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, for superior results.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR AVICLEAR™?
AviClear™ is a great option for patients with sensitive skin towards topical therapies and who want to avoid oral medications for long periods such as antibiotics or Accutane. It is also effective for patients with excessively oily skin and comedonal acne, such as blackheads and whiteheads. This treatment has been proven safe and effective for all skin types and tones. AviClear™ should not be performed on patients who are pregnant or undergoing treatment for skin cancer.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER AVICLEAR™?
Clinical trials show that following the AviClear™ procedure, current and future breakout episodes are shorter, less intense, and more infrequent. Furthermore, acne clearance results continue to improve over time, demonstrating the treatment’s long-term efficacy. Clinical data shows that patients’ acne improves dramatically by three months and even better by six months after the last three treatments.
IS THERE DOWNTIME AFTER AN AVICLEAR™ TREATMENT?
There is no downtime associated with the AviClear™ treatment. Patients should limit any exercise or activity that would cause excess heat or sweat during the first 24 hours.
DOES THE AVICLEAR™ TREATMENT HURT?
During treatment, you may notice a slight snapping sensation. Patients report a pain level of 3-5 out of 10, depending on the size and depth of the pimples. As a result, patients have not needed any pain mitigation for treatments. AviClear™ also uses a skin cooling system to maintain your skin’s temperature during treatment for a more comfortable experience.
