Between the sun, harsh cleansers, pollution, and aging, our skin can become dull and wrinkled (two of our least favorite words). Thankfully, with BroadBand Light™ Therapy, you don’t have to be stuck with skin issues. Think of BBL as a multi-tasker—from age spots to sun damage—it can pretty much tackle it all.

BBL is the next generation of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) photofacial therapy in Dubuque. The treatment uses short blasts of high-intensity light to produce younger-looking skin that’s firmer and more even in tone and texture. Your face is one of the main areas of your body that immediately gives away your age. Years of unprotected sun exposure, harsh cleansers, and the process of aging can do a number on your skin, making it look dull and wrinkled. BBL helps reverse the signs of aging by minimizing sun spots, sun damage, and more!

HOW IT WORKS

BBL gently heats the upper layers of the skin. As light energy is absorbed, it stimulates skin cells to generate new collagen.  This helps to restore the skin to a youthful state, safely, with virtually no downtime. Pigmentation issues associated with the skin, such as facial redness, sun/age spots, small facial vessels and hyperpigmentation will gradually fade away after 2-5 treatments. Popular treatment areas include the face, neck, décolletage, arms and hands.

The treatment itself will take between a few minutes and a half an hour. During the procedure, your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. You may feel a warm sensation as the light is absorbed into your skin, but this is generally not uncomfortable.  A topical anesthetic is sometimes used to be able to perform more aggressive treatments comfortably.

Your Faces Medspa laser specialist will provide you with information and advice on how to care for your skin following your treatment. You might experience redness for the first few hours. You may also see an initial darkening of some treated areas. These areas will fade and flake off, revealing fresh, rejuvenated new skin beneath. After any BBL treatment, it is important to avoid direct sunlight until the treated areas are healed. You should be able to go back to work and your regular activities immediately.
