The most powerful procedure to restore the balance of the lower face and neck is a facelift and neck lift procedure. Whether you have early signs of aging such as sagging along the jowls, or you have more advanced changes such as skin excess in the neck, this procedure can be customized to fit your needs.  Dr. Givens is the region's specialist in facelift and neck lift, performed in Dubuque, IA.  He is the leading deep-plane facelift surgeon in the State of Iowa.

FACELIFT AND NECK LIFT

The aim of all facial cosmetic and plastic surgery should be to create balance and harmony while retaining a natural, healthy and realistic appearance. Also known as a rhytidectomy or necklift, facelifts are one of the most common cosmetic procedures in the United States. A facelift involves moving skin, tissue, and muscle in order to recontour the face and create a smoother, younger-looking profile.

During a facelift and neck lift procedure, Dr. Givens makes incisions in the hairline and along the contours of the ear to minimize the appearance of scars after healing. The skin is not only lifted and redraped but the underlying structures are also elevated and restructured for improved facial contours. When necessary, liposuction or targeted fat removal is also added to remove localized fat deposits, and muscles are tightened to improve overall tone and shape.

Facelift procedures are completely customized at Faces Medspa by Double Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Daniel J. Givens. Facelifts can also be performed in conjunction with other procedures such as fat grafting or chin augmentation, which can be discussed during your consultation. Many patients are surprised to learn that the procedure can be performed safely and comfortably in our office surgery suite with local anesthesia and light relaxing medication.

Sagging jowls and a drooping corner of the mouth contribute to an aged appearance.  In these cases, a "mini-lift" or "mini facelift" can be performed with minimal downtime.

For patients with more advanced aging changes, a deep plane face and neck lift is performed for the most powerful improvement.  The deep plane facelift is Dr. Givens' signature procedure. Here, the goal is to reduce the appearance of jowls, sagging lower facial features, sagging skin on the neck, and banding on the neck. The end result is, to harmonize the facial features and balance the results. Similarly, patients are sometimes born with a sloped neck, and lack of a defined jawline. Even younger patients may choose to undergo a deep neck lift procedure, where the features of the neck are carefully sculpted to create a tight and refined jawline.  A deep neck lift can be performed through a single small incision under the chin, without any traditional facelift incisions.  Similarly, patients may choose to undergo the minimally-invasive MyEllevate neck lift which lifts the skin of the neck without surgical incisions.
