Like all lasers, Moxi delivers a concentrated beam of light of a single wavelength. The Moxi Laser is ideal for milder degrees of rejuvenation that is needed by women and men in their 20’s to early 40’s. The Moxi laser in Dubuque is designed to be non-ablative, which means that it does not directly damage the surface of the skin. Instead, the energy passes into the skin and provokes a healing response. This leads to the regeneration of collagen and elastin fibers that are lost or disorganized by early sun damage. What you will see is a smoother skin surface and better skin tone, plus some improvement in pigmentation. Because the skin’s surface is not damaged, recovery from a Moxi treatment is very quick. WHAT IS MOXI AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
Moxi delivers gentle micro-pulses of fractionated laser energy to the skin in order to create controlled damage to skin cells. The body’s natural response is to remove the damaged cells which contain pigment and other signs of aging, replacing the cells with fresh new cells. The result is fresh, bright-looking skin, just after your first visit.
Depending on the level of treatment provided, most people find the treatment is well tolerated. Cooling air and recommend numbing cream to help ensure your treatment is as comfortable as possible.
WHAT IS A MOXI TREATMENT LIKE?
Moxi treatments can be delivered at 3 levels of intensity. At Level 1 discomfort is relatively mild, even without topical anesthesia. Most patients with level 2 or level 3 Moxi treatments will come in at least 30 minutes before their treatment so that a numbing cream can be applied to the skin. The Faces Medspa laser technician will cleanse your skin and gently roll the device across your face as it delivers tiny bursts of energy in a pattern that leaves space between areas where the beam of energy has penetrated. The power of the energy delivered and the spacing between the tiny spots of energy will be matched by your clinician to what is appropriate for your skin. Before you know it, your treatment is complete!
WHAT IS THE MOXI RECOVERY LIKE?
For the day following your treatment your skin may appear red and depending on your level of treatment you may see the small dots called Mendz where the laser was applied. As the microzones heal, they will darken and your skin may feel rough. Between days 3-5, the Mendz will slough/fall off revealing the renewed skin beneath. Because this is a non-ablative fractionated treatment, the post-care regimen is simple. Wear a moisturizing physical sunscreen and stay out of the sun. You may wear make-up 24 hours after your treatment.
