Iowa Nose Job

Iowa Rhinoplasty

The focal point of the face, the nose, holds significant importance both aesthetically and functionally. Beyond its role in facial harmony, it serves as the primary olfactory organ and plays a crucial part in respiration. At Givens MD | Faces Medspa, Dr. Givens's goal in every rhinoplasty procedure is to achieve natural-looking and enduring results that optimize the form, size, and character of the nose.

Dr. Daniel Givens is double-board certified in Facial Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery, ensuring comprehensive expertise in both nasal functionality and facial aesthetics. This means that not only can your new nose appear more pleasing, but it may also function better.

While many rhinoplasties are elective cosmetic procedures, a significant number are performed to address breathing issues or to correct nasal structure following injury. Following surgery, patients can retain their natural appearance but with improved facial symmetry and a more natural aesthetic.

Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty with Piezo Technology

As a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Givens is committed to staying at the forefront of the most cutting-edge surgical techniques and technology. He now routinely performs ultrasonic rhinoplasty using the piezoelectric (piezotome) device, a modern alternative to the traditional hammer and chisel method. This approach allows for highly precise sculpting and cutting of the nasal bones under direct visualization, significantly reducing trauma to surrounding tissues.

The result? A lower risk of bony irregularities and typically less bruising and swelling, leading to a smoother, more comfortable recovery. This state-of-the-art method aligns with Dr. Givens’ commitment to delivering refined, natural-looking results while minimizing downtime for his patients.

Rhinoplasty Before and After Images

Every year over half a million people will consult a facial plastic surgeon to improve the appearance of their nose, an operation called a Rhinoplasty, or nose plastic surgery. Since the nose is one of the most defining characteristics of the face, even a slight alteration can greatly improve one’s appearance. There are a number of reasons to consider rhinoplasty surgery, not all of which have to do with enhancing your appearance, but certainly, building self-confidence can be life-changing. Rhinoplasty Recovery

Initial Days Post-Surgery

Immediately following your rhinoplasty procedure, you can expect swelling, bruising, and some discomfort. Dr. Givens will provide detailed post-operative instructions to ensure your comfort and optimize your healing process. It's normal to initially experience congestion and difficulty breathing through your nose.

Weeks 1-2

During the first two weeks of recovery, it's essential to prioritize rest and follow Dr. Givens' guidelines diligently. Swelling and bruising will gradually subside, and any discomfort can typically be managed with prescribed pain medication. You'll need to avoid strenuous activities, including heavy lifting and vigorous exercise, to prevent complications and promote optimal healing.

Weeks 3-6

As you enter weeks three through six of recovery, you'll notice significant improvements in swelling and bruising. While most patients feel comfortable returning to work or school within this timeframe, it's crucial to continue avoiding activities that could put strain on your nose. Follow-up appointments with Dr. Givens will allow him to monitor your progress and address any concerns that may arise.
